This lot is located in Chicago.
Condition
Framed: 39 x 50 x 3 inches.Moderate deposits of surface dirt and dust, primarily on the verso; canvas is not lined; pinpoint black stains scattered through the upper right quadrant; network of craquelures throughout the surface, with the primer visible in some areas of cracking, though the craquelures appear mostly stable; small paint losses scattered along the upper and lower extreme edges, only visible once the painting is removed from the frame; under a discolored and highly reflective varnish. Under UV light: the aforementioned black stains fluoresce, but do not appear to be inpainting; areas of fluorescence through the lower portion of the sky, although it is difficult to determine if this is due to uneven varnish application or inpainting; small strokes of inpainting within the horses and haycart, as well as small areas of inpainting to the left of the cart, within the ground; inpainting to the top of the green tree on the right; small strokes of inpainting to the red coat of the right-most figure. Additional images available upon request.
